Seaside Place is truly special and we are excited to welcome you to our island home!  Here are a few questions and answers to help you get ready for your unforgettable visit!

Q: It's such a big house!  How many bedrooms and bathrooms are there?

A: It is a huge house - 2,700 square feet indoors, plus the upper and lower balconies overlooking South Street and the pool deck!  We have five bedrooms, each with their own dedicated bathroom, plus a bonus cabana bathroom by the pool.  Bedrooms are set up as follows:

• Front downstairs bedroom - queen sized bed, en suite full bath

• Rear downstairs bedroom - king sized bed, en suite full bath

• Front upstairs bedroom - queen sized bed, en suite full bath

• Front upstairs master suite - king sized bed, en suite full bath with futon

• Rear upstairs bedroom - queen sized bed with twin daybed, full bath in hallway

Q:  How do I know you've got the lowest price available?

A:  You are booking directly with the owner when you make a reservation on this site!  It's easy to see what you're paying for when you book with us: other sites show you a low nightly rate and then hit you with additional cleaning, administrative and service fees.  We want you to stay with us and guarantee our total cost is less than anywhere else - please call us directly with any questions at 305-393-6900.

Q:  12.5% tax seems high - what's included in that?

A:  We collect 7.5% Florida State Sales Tax and 5% Tourist Development Tax, also known as "bed tax".  This funding stays in Monroe County and is used for land acquisition, advertising, advisory committees and reimbursement for non-profit and government building projects.

Q:  I've never been to Key West - should I rent a car for my stay?

A:  Unless you're planning to venture up the Keys, a car isn't necessary.  Our little island is only 2 x 4 miles - everything you need is very accessible on foot or bike - we are happy to arrange bicycle, scooter or golf cart rentals for your stay.  The Duval Loop is a shuttle that makes its way around the island every 15 minutes and there is a stop just around the corner from Seaside Place.  We will happily schedule airport transfers for you, and there are plenty of taxis and ride shares available.

Q:  I'm driving down from the mainland - do you have parking available?

A:  Yes, we have two off street spots included with your reservation.

Q:  Do you allow smoking?

A:  Smoking is permitted outdoors only - there is no smoking allowed inside the house.  Seaside Place is a wood framed home - we ask that smokers take extra care to extinguish and properly dispose of cigarettes.

Q: Do you have bikes available?

A: We have a partnership with with A&M Rentals, which is right next door to Seaside Place - they have  the best rates in town for weekly bike rentals, scooters and golf carts.  There is plenty of space available on site for parking.

Q: What can I expect to find in the house?

A: Bedding, bath and pool towels, kitchen small appliances, dishes, pots and pans and silverware  are all available.  For poolside, we have a variety of plastic drinkware.  Both a Keurig and standard coffee maker (with extra carafes) are available.  There are starter supplies for  hand and dish washing, laundry and general cleaning.   Each bathroom has a blow dryer,  extra toilet paper and surface cleaning products.  Laundry room has extra linens and assorted bottles of sunblock.   We also have two free standing ice makers and multiple coolers on the pool deck.

Q: What's all this I hear about the Key West chickens?

A:  Chickens were brought by early settlers and have been here ever since.  Chances are good you'll see a rooster, hen and their chicks making way through town just like any other family.  It's a myth that roosters only crow at sunrise, and it may be a sound you aren't used to - after a day or so, you won't even notice it!  You can also expect to spot an iguana sunbathing on the fence and a sleepy cat napping at the base of our mailbox.

Q: My dog would love Seaside Place - are pets allowed?

A: In an effort to minimize allergy concerns and maintain the comfort of all guests we do not permit pets.

Q: Your rental agreement requires I start the laundry before my departure, what does this mean?

A: It is the guests responsibility to strip beds and deliver all linens and towels to the laundry room.  There are two washers and two dryers available: loads must be started in each washer by check out time.

Q: Is there any chance I can get an early check in or late check out?

A: Our cleaning staff arrives promptly at 11:01 am and works until  3:59 pm to prepare the house for our next guests, and it takes every last minute to  ensure all 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and 2700 square feet are perfect for the next arrival!  Unfortunately, we are unable to offer an early check in or late check out; however, we do have on site storage for luggage for our incoming guests.  For outgoing guests, we will accommodate requests for luggage storage where possible, or direct you to alternate storage options.

Q: I am SO ready for my visit, but what if something happens?  Do I have the ability to cancel?

A: As life is uncertain (so eat your Key Lime Pie first), we encourage all our guests to purchase trip insurance inclusive of Cancel For Any Reason add-on - it is the very best way to be protected in the event of life's little emergencies.  Click here to see quotes from our preferred partner.   Seaside Place is a unique property and we are unable to refund payments for cancellations, although we will do our very best to help you reschedule your stay if we are legally unable to accept you as our guest by State of Florida, Monroe County or City of Key West directive.  If you need some time to square away travel details before finalizing your booking, please call us and we will happily provide a courtesy block on your requested dates - we are always here to help.  We want all guests to feel comfortable and protected; please purchase trip insurance with Cancel For Any Reason add-on to secure your vacation investment!

Q: How should I pack for my visit?

A: However you want!  Key West is a very laid back place - it's hot and full of vacationers, so casual wear is accepted everywhere.  Flip flops and shorts are common in restaurants, collared shirts are not required.  A light sweater is useful if you're indoors and the AC a little cool.  The sun is hot and can be unforgiving, so it's best to wear sunblock anytime you're outdoors.  Polarized sunglasses will allow you to catch a glimpse of any dolphins, turtles or manatees in the water - you won't want to miss any of our sea life!  As our weather can change in an instant, a rain jacket or poncho will come in handy.  The winds shift quickly here in the tropics and we will get heavy rains on summer afternoons, but it's usually just enough to water the trees and flowers!

Q. What if I'd like a little something special for our stay?

A:  We can help with whatever you need for special occasions .  Grocery delivery, excursion bookings, rentals - we're here for you!  Check out our Things To Do page or add a note in your reservation and we'll work with you on all the details!
